THE CHALLENGE

We believe that gossip isn’t something to be demonized or ashamed of but is instead a positive societal good. While gossip has historically been labeled the idle, insignificant and at times cruel passtime of women, we seek to overturn this notion and highlight the many ways that gossip not only creates social bonds but can even save lives.

THE SOLUTION

Creating a collage from historical photos and vintage editorial shoots, this cover imagery evokes the shock and awe often associated with the proverbial “spilling of the tea”. Coupled with our logo, the dynamic collage composition breaks it’s frame encroaching on the letterform itself, illustrating the boundary pushing content within.

WHY THIS WORKS

The variable typographic nature of the magazine mirrors the infinite variability of the types of gossip that exist and have been used for centuries. Our mix of text and bit mapped imagery remains consistent due to our grid, creating cohesion page after page ensuring the underlying theme stays the same despite the subject matter shifting completely.
